The short answer
An annual season to London from these stations costs between £1,292 and £5,284. Regulated fares were frozen from March 2026 until March 2027. If you go in fewer days, the same ticket costs more per day you actually use it: from Guildford, the cheapest of the three season-ticket options we modelled (46 weeklies, 12 monthlies or one annual) works out at £20.54 per office day at five days a week but £34.23 at three. That comparison leaves out day returns and Flexi Seasons, which can be cheaper for part-time commuting.
Important: at one to three days a week a season ticket is often not the cheapest way to travel. Flexi Season tickets (8 days in 28) and day returns may cost less. We have not shown those prices because we couldn't verify them for every station on 14 October 2026; check your route on the National Rail season ticket calculator.

Hybrid weeks: cost per office day
Season tickets only. For each pattern we take the cheapest of these three modelled strategies: weekly seasons bought only in working weeks (46 a year), twelve monthly seasons, or one annual season — then divide by the days you'd actually travel. Day returns and Flexi Seasons are not included, so this is not necessarily the cheapest way to travel.

The time cost
Illustrative only: hours a year if both legs took the fastest listed one-way time to Waterloo, over 46 working weeks. We did not verify return-journey times, so this is not a measured minimum. Real time is longer: add waiting, slower trains, the trip to the station and from Waterloo.

Station to station is not door to door
Every figure here starts on the platform and stops at the London terminal. Your real commute also includes getting to the station (and perhaps paying to park), any Underground or bus fare from Waterloo, and waiting for the train that suits you. A home two miles from the station can add more time each day than the gap between two towns' fastest trains.
Assumptions
- 46 working weeks a year (52 less about six weeks of leave and bank holidays). Twelve monthly seasons cover the full year.
- Adult Standard fares only, to London Terminals. Prices as listed by Trainline on 14 October 2026; a retailer may add fees.
- Fastest times are the quickest service listed on each route page, not an average.
- We did not estimate any fare we could not find published.
